Convey:Insight Software Requirements

Convey:Insight primarily lives on the web, utilizing a browser interface to provide both students and instructors the access they need. If your location wants to use the dedicated, handheld response pads from Dukane, there is a Windows application that must be installed in order to connect the base station for the physical response pads to work.

The locally installed Convey:Insight client application can be installed on any number of PC's in your organization. Licensing is based on the number of students/participants using the system. The requirements for the installed application are as follows:

  • Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista, Windows 7 or 8, 32 or 64 bit
  • 256MB RAM, 1GB recommended

The following prerequisite is also installed as required:

  • .NET Framework 4.0 (x86)

Application updates are provided automatically by Convey Services running in the background accessible via the System Tray.

NOTE: To use the yellow, dedicated Convey responders (either by themselves or mixed with Convey:VR's) the instructor must have installed the Convey:Insight desktop application on a PC that meets the requirements above. The Convey responders require a USB base station (specs below) connected to the PC to allow communication between the application and the devices.

The web based components of Convey:Insight such as roster management, reporting, question editing and polling control are accessible via the latest versions of popular browsers on PC's and Mac's (IE9 and up, Firefox, Safari, Chrome). Tablet devices with current OS updates should work fine as well using the native browser. The Kindle Fire and Nook are untested at this time. Due to the nature of the user-interface, mobile, phone-size devices are not recommended for instructor interaction.
