A Little History

Control is where it all started for Convey. We knew teachers needed a non-technical way to turn the projector, document camera and DVD/VCR player on/off. How about giving them a simple interface on the most powerful machine already in the classroom, their PC? Perfect!

What's In A Name?

Since we were CONtrolling the Video and Audio we called it ConVA, pronounced like "Convey". But even after some 10,000 folks were using it in their classroom, they still had trouble with saying the name! We've heard it called everything from "CON-vuh" to "CON-vee-ay" to "con-VAH", but rarely  "Con-VAY".

What to do?

Well, when we expanded our solution to incorporate student response, we understood we were now helping teachers convey concepts, ideas and thoughts to their students. So we renamed the overall solution Convey. Now folks don't struggle about saying the name, but they sometimes get confused when they see the old ConVA label crop up

Stand Alone vs Integrated

Control now has two forms: the original stand alone application that is solely for AV device control and usage tracking. Its still labeled ConVA since that's what it does! We have also integrated Control into the Student Response application. If you want to extend your SRS application and add Convey Control, let us know and we will consult with you to determine just what you need.
